Services FAQ

Can EWA complete my application for me?

For an application preparation fee, EWA can work with you to obtain the necessary administrative and technical information required by the FCC to develop your application for a new license. These items will be needed at a minimum to complete your application:

  • FCC Registration Number (FRN) - To be licensed by the FCC your Employee Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSAN), if individual, must be registered with the FCC. EWA Spectrum Solutions and Application Preparation will obtain your FCC Registration Number (FRN), security question and password.
  • Licensee name, business address, telephone, email and eligibility for a license
  • License operating parameters that include the transmitter location, coordinates, output power, ERP and antenna information.
  • Frequency band required, VHF, UHF or 800/900 MHz

What will my new license cost me?

The EWA Schedule of Services will provide you with fees for your system, whether it is a base and mobile system or you are just looking for some mobile only frequencies. EWA does provide special EWA membership fees to its Business Enterprise and Wireless Sales & Service members and their customers.

Can EWA help me with the narrowbanding of my licenses?

Yes. Even though the FCC mandate deadline date to migrate to narrowband was January 1, 2013 can assist you with narrowbanding your licenses. Learn more here.

How do we develop a frequency strategy for our regional network?

If you are planning to expand or reconfigure your system, we can assist in determining availability of spectrum and your best spectrum strategies. Contact EWA's Bill Sterner for more information.

We’d like help choosing the right wireless technology – can you help us?

Yes! The Enterprise Wireless Solutions Center® is a unique source that can assist you with evaluating your requirements, making recommendations of best technologies and facilitating a connection to the right companies.

How do we know if the new equipment we want to buy will operate on our current system?

Our Spectrum Solutions department can evaluate your license and recommend whether the equipment you want to buy is authorized to operate at the same bandwidth and frequency band as your current license or if you need to change your license.

What is the difference between licensed and unlicensed spectrum and what is best for our needs?

EWA can evaluate your communications requirements and give you the answers about the advantages and disadvantages of both licensed and unlicensed spectrum. Our Spectrum Solutions department can clarify the differences in the allocations of spectrum and explain the FCC rules.

What is EWA’s payment policy?

EWA’s payment policy allows for the acceptance of credit cards and the establishment of drawn down accounts. You can establish a Net 30 payment process by contacting Accounting at 703.797.5133 to request a credit application.

Why do I have to file a Construction Notification?

Failure to submit this notice of construction by the deadline could result in the automatic termination of your license by the FCC, as they will assume the frequencies are not being utilized. On June 5, 2001 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established the Required Notification of Construction. When it issues a license for new frequencies, they normally allow one year from date of grant for the licensee to construct and place the new frequencies into operation. You may find more information regarding the construction requirements for each type of radio service on the FCC’s website, or contact EWA for more information, 1-800-482-8282.

There is no fee to submit the construction notification through the FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS), using your FRN and password. EWA assists many of its members each year with this filing obligation: simply submit the Construction Notification Request Form to EWA, and refer to our Schedule of Services for applicable fees.  The construction notice must be filed after the system has been constructed, and not before.  Beware of companies who offer to assist with this obligation shortly after a license is issued: it is not in compliance with FCC rules to file a construction notice until the system has actually been constructed.

What is the cost to use Cevo?

There is no cost to register for a Cevo account, use the Cevo Tools or enter FCC application data; however, once you engage EWA to perform a service, e.g., application preparation or frequency coordination, customary fees apply, and a fee schedule is available online. For any service you request through Cevo, you'll be taken through a "checkout" process where you'll verify items/services and costs in your cart prior to specifying your payment method. Charges to your credit card or invoice will be applied after an EWA Spectrum Analyst completes the requested service.

For an FCC Filing (an application for frequency coordination) I'm working on in Cevo, what are the costs?

There are two areas of possible cost for an FCC Filing in Cevo: ordinary frequency coordination fees, and the level of service you require from EWA. Where allowed by the FCC, certain services are discounted for EWA members, and a fee schedule is available online. Frequency Coordination, including FCC filing fees may be found in our fee schedule. The Service Selection, which you'll see prior to initiating a filing, and also on the last Step of your filing, is decided by you, and the choices are:

  1. Cevo Express: you have provided some information about your requires, but you would like EWA to fully complete your application and verify all data is accurate prior to our frequency coordination and transmittal of the application to the FCC. A short cut to Cevo Express is to tap the "Hand Over to EWA" button on any page of your application. See the online fee schedule
  2. Cevo Solo: you have completed the application in its entirety and attest to its accuracy. EWA will provide frequency coordination prior to transmittal of the application to the FCC. There is no charge to go Solo, but ordinary frequency coordination and FCC fees do apply.
  3. Cevo Pro: as with Cevo Solo, you have completed your application accurately, but would additionally like to directly participate in the coordination process. From your Cevo dashboard, you'll select the "Coordinate" button, and have access to many of the same analysis capabilities as EWA Spectrum Analysts, e.g., analyzing incumbents, running different scenaries, and ultimately selecting the best available frequency(s). A tip: select the frequency, with the least cumulative overlap! EWA will expertly certify your application and transmit it to the FCC. See the online fee schedule

What forms of payment are acceptable in Cevo?

All transactions can be accomplished via major credit card. If your company has been approved for credit, upon checking out you will see an option for invoicing via Net 30 terms. If you do not see the Net 30 option, but wish to be approved for credit, a credit application may be completed and sent back to EWA. Pre-payment by check, pre-established drawn-down accounting, and via provision of a purchase order may also be arranged by contacting EWA's Accounting office in advance.

How can I obtain a copy of the invoice (order) for a service EWA recently charged my credit card or invoiced me?

Login to your Cevo account and from your Dashboard, view My Orders (yours and other colleagues in your company). Contact Us -- your Spectrum Advisor or EWA's accounting department -- with any questions or to obtain a copy by email.

I'm used to filling out an FCC Form 601 and emailing or mailing it to you. How do I submit this information to you via Cevo?

EWA created Cevo to simplify and speed up your filing process, and there are three methods for submitting data. See which one fits your needs:

  1. The Cevo Wizard speeds up your data entry, reduces the need to complete every single field found on the FCC Form 601, verifies all required fields are completed accurately, and provides information tips for most fields;
  2. Direct Form Entry, for FCC Form 601 fans who want to complete the official form, and do not require guidance, information tips, or pointers about how the form should be completed; or
  3. Templates you've created from scratch or stored from previous applications, to simplify future data entry for scenarios you've commonly use.

Login to, or create, your Cevo account to get started. You may also phone, email, fax, or snail mail your requirements - see our Contact Us page for that information.

I can see in my Dashboard which EWA Analyst is working on my application, but I have questions - how do I contact them?

Please visit our contact page for individual contact details, or 1-800-482-8282, Cevo@EnterpriseWireless.org. Please have your Application ID or Order ID handy.
