The SIRSA Board of DirectorsIn St. Louis in 1953, business leaders whose companies were increasingly relying on internal two-way radio systems to provide necessary management control and dispatch communication requirements, organized the Special Industrial Radio Service Association. SIRSA’s mission was to educate the Federal Communications Commission on the importance of radio as a tool in the nation’s economy; of the reliance of industrial radio users upon a limited allocation of spectrum, and to educate users of industrial radio in techniques that would reduce interference. Over the years, in response to market conditions and regulatory changes, that organization became the Industrial Telecommunications Association, and in 2005, the Enterprise Wireless Alliance, and now celebrates its 65th anniversary!
