FCC Grants Deere & Company Waiver
On March 24, 2016, an Order from the Federal Communications Commission granted Deere & Company waivers to permit the certification and operation of fixed white space devices on off-road agricultural equipment. This request was fully supported by EWA. While the FCC imposed certain additional registration requirements on these advanced applications, the Order noted that relief was appropriate as it would permit M2M data communications intended to increase crop yields and reduce food production costs, without causing harmful interference or materially increasing spectrum congestion.
