The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) has contracted with John Wehmann to facilitate the administration of 900 MHz incumbent transition services. Mr. Wehmann brings more than 25 years of experience in the wireless and telecommunications industries, including over 13 years with Sprint. While with Sprint, John led a nationwide team in the negotiation of over 1,500 agreements with 800 MHz licensees totaling in excess of $1 Billion to effectuate the reconfiguration of the 800 MHz band in accordance with the 2004 Order issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Last month, EWA signed an agreement with Anterix, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATEX) to formally assist in 900 MHz incumbent transition by engaging with incumbents to reconfigure authorized spectrum assignments to conform with the anticipated band reconfiguration to be adopted by the FCC. Mr. Wehmann will manage this effort.
“The 800 MHz rebanding involved technical challenges and a diverse group of players with competing priorities,” said Mr. Wehmann. “My success in finding solutions during that project will inform my work with EWA and the 900 MHz transition.”
“John’s experience in the 800 MHz rebanding project at Sprint will be invaluable,” said Mark Crosby, EWA President. “He has the technical expertise and understands the issues and sensitivities surrounding such transitions.”
