LMCC Adopts Policy Regarding Non-Compliant Narrowband Systems
The Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC) has advised the FCC in comments that its Business/Industrial and Public Safety frequency advisory committees, effective February 1, 2013, will essentially ignore non-compliant narrowband systems in the 150-470 MHz bands during frequency coordination analyses. The LMCC noted that this procedure would promote timely compliance with the FCC’s narrowbanding requirements and spectrum efficiency. Exceptions would include systems that have a pending modification application on file at the FCC evidencing narrowbanding compliance or a pending or granted waiver request that seeks an extension of the January 1, 2013, narrowbanding deadline. Assuming the FCC accepts this LMCC-endorsed frequency coordination procedure, the LMCC recommended that it be reported in a future FCC Public Notice.
