Keep Contact Data Current to Not Miss FCC Notices

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

It might have ended badly were it not for the keen eye of an Enterprise Wireless Alliance staff member.

While reviewing the weekly “termination pending” notices from the Federal Communications Commission, an EWA staffer noticed a familiar name. A company for which EWA had coordinated an application for a license was on the list of licenses about to be terminated for not having filed a construction notice.

Immediately, EWA contacted the service provider who had brought the application request to EWA. This service provider was the FCC contact for many of its clients, and the business had moved during the past year. The service provider had forgotten to update the administrative information associated with the license after the move. EWA advised the service provider on how to update this information in the FCC’s Universal Licensing System (ULS) and what action to take to “save” the license.

Keep administration information for each license you manage up to date as the FCC sends notices using both the United States Postal Service and electronic mail. Please ensure that all contact information is current. In the case above, the FCC had mailed several notices to the service provider’s old business address.  Instructions for how to update administrative information associated with your license are available at the FCC site.

EWA monitors FCC releases in order to identify matters of interest to its members. Waiting to take action when the license is about to be terminated is exceedingly risky and may result in license termination. If keeping up with your own licenses or those of your customers is becoming a daunting process, consider enrolling in EWA’s Total License Management. With this service, EWA performs a detailed review of known licenses, conducts an exhaustive search to identify any other affiliated licenses and creates a secure database that may be readily managed through the maze of future construction and renewal requirements. This service is offered to business enterprises as well as to service providers that are responsible for customer licenses. Call EWA at 800-482-8282 to enroll today.
